KEEPING US SAFE & SECURE

GREG IS LEADING THE FIGHT TO KEEP ARIZONA SAFE & SECURE.

As a former Mayor, Greg Stanton knows the only thing that matters in public safety is results: safer neighborhoods, faster emergency response, stronger investigations, support for victims, and accountability from every agency with a badge.

Greg does not support defunding or disbanding local police departments. He supports investing in well-trained officers who know the communities they serve, community policing that builds trust, and the tools law enforcement needs to solve violent crimes.

That is what he has done in Congress. Greg backed the VICTIM Act to help police departments hire and retain detectives, investigate homicides, sexual assaults, kidnappings, and shootings, process evidence faster, and fully staff victim services.

He secured federal funding for rapid DNA technology in Maricopa County so investigators can develop leads in 90 minutes instead of waiting months. He has pushed for body cameras because transparency protects the public and good officers doing the job the right way.

In Congress, Greg will keep investing in what actually makes communities safer: more trained local officers, better crime-solving technology, stronger victim services, mental health crisis response, fentanyl enforcement, domestic violence prevention, and common-sense gun safety laws that keep dangerous weapons out of dangerous hands while respecting law-abiding gun owners.

Greg will never let dangerous ideology on either side put the safety and security of Arizonans at risk.

Border & Immigration Enforcement

Arizona understands the need for border security. Greg believes the federal government has a responsibility to secure the border and ports of entry with modern technology, trained personnel, and a clear focus on cartels, traffickers, fentanyl smugglers, violent criminals, and genuine threats to public safety.

Greg also believes ICE needs serious reform and accountability. Immigration enforcement should keep Americans safe, respect due process, protect civil liberties, and reflect our values as a nation of immigrants. Security does not mean cruelty. It does not mean secrecy. It does not mean masked agents operating without oversight or communities being forced to accept massive detention facilities with no transparency. And Greg has been fighting these abuses of power from day one, and he will not rest until Donald Trump’s agenda of chaos and cruelty is brought to an end.

Greg is relentless about oversight. When ICE blocked his visit to the Eloy Detention Center, he went back again and again, until they had no choice but to finally follow the law. When he got inside, Greg spent hours meeting with detainees and recording conditions — and then he went public and kept demanding answers.

At Mesa Gateway Airport, Greg helped expose alarming conditions inside a temporary holding facility and has continued pressing for improvements through regular inspections since. In Surprise, Arizona, he is leading the federal effort to stop a massive detention facility from being forced on residents who made clear they did not want it.

When Republican leaders in Congress tried to pour more money into Trump’s ICE operation without any oversight, Greg voted no again and again. And when Republicans threatened to shut down the government, Greg held firm. He also introduced legislation to strip millions in ICE funding and reallocate it to local public safety instead, so communities can hire trained police officers, strengthen crime prevention, support victims, and keep neighborhoods safe.

Greg believes Arizona deserves a smarter approach: secure the border, stop fentanyl, target cartels and violent criminals, fix the broken immigration system, and restore accountability to federal enforcement. Safe communities and constitutional rights go hand in hand.

National Security

Greg Stanton believes America is strongest when we lead with strength, discipline, and accountability. Greg’s national security priorities include protecting Americans, standing with our allies, confronting our adversaries, and upholding the Constitution of the United States.

Greg is fighting to keep America ahead of China through his leadership on the bipartisan China Select Committee and as co-chair of the bipartisan Taiwan Caucus. He’s securing supply chains, protecting U.S. technology, strengthening Arizona’s semiconductor economy, and stopping advanced American chips from strengthening China’s military, intelligence, and surveillance capabilities.

Greg is clear-eyed about the threat Iran poses: it must never obtain a nuclear weapon, and the United States must stand against terrorism, protect U.S. forces, and defend our national security. But strength is not a blank check for reckless escalation. The Constitution gives Congress, not one person, the power to take America to war. That is why Greg fiercely condemned Trump’s unauthorized war with Iran and voted to bring our troops home unless and until the president made his case to Congress.

Finally, Greg recognizes the U.S.-Israel relationship is critical to American national security. He will always stand against terrorism and support Israel’s right to defend itself. Every Israeli and every Palestinian deserves to live with safety, dignity, freedom, and hope for the future. A durable peace between the two requires a two-state solution: a secure, Jewish, and democratic Israel living alongside an independent Palestinian state.

But standing with an ally does not require silence when its government makes choices that undermine long-term peace and security. Greg has opposed settlement expansion and settler violence because those actions weaken Israel’s security and push a negotiated two-state solution further out of reach. Supporting Israel’s future does not require defending every decision made by the Netanyahu government.

Greg also believes Palestinians deserve a government accountable to them and the power to shape their own future. Lasting stability is impossible while civilians are hungry, displaced, and without basic services. The United States should work with Israel, Arab partners, and European allies to isolate Iran and its proxies, expand regional normalization, deliver aid to civilians without empowering Hamas, and tie reconstruction to a credible political process.

Greg will continue to condemn antisemitism and Islamophobia wherever they appear. Threatening Jewish Americans, excusing terrorism, denying Israel’s right to exist, or treating Jewish safety as negotiable is unacceptable. Hate directed at Muslim Americans is intolerable as well. Greg will keep fighting to increase federal security grants to protect houses of worship and vulnerable communities throughout the East Valley.

Keeping America safe requires strength, judgment, and accountability. Greg is fighting for all three.
